About this Piece:
Dreamboat blends structure and motion: boats, bridges, and reflections all caught in a swirl of color and line. It’s not meant to depict a single scene, but it’s easy to imagine somewhere familiar in it: a harbor at dusk, a quiet marina, or a view from the shoreline after the wind picks up.
Dawn Richardson painted this from memory and imagination, loosely inspired by walks near the waterfront in Sturgeon Bay. The layered brushstrokes create movement, almost like the boats are rocking in place while the sky and water shift around them.
The title fits. There’s something peaceful and a little surreal about it. Like a day you remember more clearly than you probably should.
