Field's Edge

I created Field’s Edge after riding past a patch of blooming goldenrod and wild asters near Ellison Bay. The way the yellow and violet clashed against each other in the sun—vibrant, loud, almost vibrating—it felt like the edge of something. A field meeting a forest. Summer turning to fall.

The lines in this piece are sharp, repeating, a little aggressive. I wanted that tension. The way nature sometimes feels chaotic even when it’s patterned. The white backdrop is intentional—like the blank sky you get right before a storm or on a windless afternoon.

It’s not a soft piece. It’s about bold contrasts and boundaries. What happens when one season or one place pushes up against another.
