Sandbar

I built this piece around the color memory of a sandbar I visited near Whitefish Dunes—where the lake shifts from deep blue to something almost tropical as you wade out and the bottom rises up. You’re surrounded by water, but the light bends differently in that shallow zone. It’s warm, clear, textured.

I wanted to layer those colors—copper, dune grass green, soft white foam—against that vibrant lake blue. The symmetry and patterning were intentional, like the natural precision you see when wind moves through beach grass or wavelets form repeating lines.
